While the Wampum shell is not as well know as turquoise or coral in Native American jewelry, it is gaining in popularity, and will soon be found through all tribal jewelry.
Wampum shell has always been popular in the North East and mid Eastern states. Eastern Coastal Nations used it as a form of trade/currency. A popular use for Wampum bead is its use in treaty belts. Historically the darker the purple, the more the shell was worth.

Nothing is from a mold or is prefabricated on this piece. So the plate, and bezel are all hand cut and it has been shaped and heated by hand.
