Historically the Wampum shell has always been popular in the North East and mid Eastern states. Eastern Coastal Nations used it as a form of trade/currency. A popular use for Wampum bead is its use in treaty belts. Historically the darker the purple, the more the shell was worth. While the Wampum shell is not as well known as turquoise or coral in Native American jewelry, it is gaining popularity, and will soon be found through all tribal jewelry. We hope you like our work. We have over 30 years of experience in the world of Native American Jewelry
